Recently, the Mortal Instruments examiner posted a very confusing article about all the Shadowhunter series. While I appreciate the effort, it was really hard to make sense of what was written. I decided to write this timeline to help all Shadowhunter fans. Happy Reading!The Mortal InstrumentsTakes place in 2007 NYC. There are 6 books in this series. 5 have been published with the 6th coming out next year. Make sure to read City of Bones before the August 21st release of the movie adaptation.The Infernal DevicesThis series takes place in Victorian London (1878). There are 3 books in this series. All have been published.If you want to take a break from The Mortal Instruments, you can start this series after City of Glass. If not, read all 5 Mortal Instruments books and then start this series.TLH (name has not been revealed)This series features the generation after the Infernal Devices. It’ll take place around 1903. This series hasn’t been published yet.The Dark ArtificesThis series is about Shadowhunters in Los Angeles and will take place 5 years after the events in Mortal Instruments (basically current time). Book 1, Lady Midnight, is expected to be published March 2015.The Wicked PowersCassandra Clare recently revealed her plans to write this story. It’ll take place 5 years after the events in The Dark Artifices. So either in the “future” or current time depending on publication date.

- Where: Public Library of Brookline, 361 Washington Street, Brookline, MA 02445. Upstairs in Hunneman Hall.
- What: Join us for an evening of a Q&A session with Laini Taylor, masked visitors, a themed costume photo booth, trivia (with prizes!), decadent snacks, and the opportunity to buy books and get them signed (the truly important bit).
There is no charge for this event, but be aware that we will be opening the doors at 6:30pm, and the seating will be first come, first serve. Photos the author will be allowed (within reason).
